Pattaya Draws Russians as UK and US Markets DeclineStaff Writer 02.12.2011 | First Independent Power Buy Opens in Pattaya Selling Electronics to RussiansSiamrad Maher and Visith Pinpawong 02.12.2011 |
The first “standalone” Power Buy electronics store had its grand opening on December 2 in Central Pattaya, located near Foodland Supermarket on Central Pattaya Road and will help fill the raging demand Russian and other Eastern European consumers have for less expensive, higher quality TVs, computers, DVD players, mobile phones, entertainment systems and other products. This store offers ease of shopping as it has its own street level parking area and is on the baht bus line. This will be the first Power Buy to have its own facility — not located within malls, like its predecessors.

Following contact from Thai police and private investigators newspapers around the world are distancing themselves from claims by "yellow" (sensational, muckraking) journalist Andrew Drummond that Drummond writes for them. Drummond even shows the banners of these newspapers on the first page of his one man blog, hate website without the knowledge or approval of the newspapers, just to fool his readers into thinking he is reputable. He did however have a stint with News of the World whose banner he also had on his site, but after the tabloid newspaper was shut down for writing the kind of defamatory reports as Drummond and using illegal tactics to get information, Drummond removed the News of the World banner from his front page of his blog. He also used to show the Bangkok Post banner, but was forced to remove it after he involved the credible Bangkok Post in a law suit which Drummond lost for lying about businessmen in Thailand. Andrew Drummond controls whom posts to his site and is known to use at least 14 different names to post to his own articles to incite comments from sleepy bloggers.
