FM hosts reception to introduce new Thai Trade Representatives

Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over a reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to introduce the President and Trade Representatives of the Office of the Thai Trade Representative (TTR). In attendance were the Bangkok- based diplomatic corps and over 200 guests from the government and private sectors.

Recently, Mr. Najibullah Mones Assifi, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative to Thailand and Deputy Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific Regional Office paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to present his Letter of Appointment from the UNFPA Executive Director on his assumption of office.

ASEAN-EU Enhanced Partnership strengthened

Recently, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya attended the 17th ASEAN-EU Ministerial meeting in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister, as the ASEAN Chair and on behalf of ASEAN, signed the Declaration of Consent to the Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia by the European Union and European Community.

Foreign Minister co-chairs inaugural Thailand-Australia Joint Commission

Recently, Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Kasit Piromya co-chaired the inaugural Thailand-Australia Joint Commission (JC) on Bilateral Cooperation with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, the Honorable Stephen Smith, during his official visit to Australia upon the invitation of the latter.

 
U.N. Visits Boat People Detained by Thailand

Ranong, Thailand (AP) U.N. officials were allowed to meet on Thursday with boat people detained by Thailand and interviewed a dozen migrants as young as 14 about their perilous journey and allegations they were abused.
