The suspension of Thailand’s investment promotion projects in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, if it continues, will affect investor confdence both locally and overseas and undermine the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth by some 0.3-0.4 per cent, according to a leading economist.

New Regulations Will Affect Industry on Eastern Seaboard

Thailand’s Cabinet on has approved the revision of ministerial regulations on environmental and health impact assessments of industrial projects, deputy government spokesman Phumin Leetheeraprasert said. These regulations will adversely impact industrial development in the Eastern Seaboard, particularly Map Ta Phut projects.
