Pneumonic Plague kills three people

An outbreak of Pneumonic Plague in a northwestern Chinese province has so far claimed three lives with the toll expected to rise. The Chinese government has quarantined Ziketan, in the Qinghai province and so far, there have been no other cases outside that area.

In an attempt to eradicate the fast-spreading mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus, which has ravaged southern provinces from spreading to other parts of Thailand, the Public Health Ministry has established ‘war rooms’ at the Disease Control Department in Bangkok and in the southern province of Trang to end the disease within three months, Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai said.
