Another celebrative event during the recent national celebration of HM the Queen’s 77th birthday anniversary for Pattaya Buddhism residents was a merit making ceremony to the Buddhist monks.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden and Local Administrative Organizations were associated in organizing the religious event for planting the Buddhist holy tree “Sri Ma Ha Phoe” – a legendary tree in the Buddhist ancient history, with the Lord Buddha using it as his living quarter on his enlightening period. The Sri Ma Ha Phoe tree was originally grown in India.

PATTANI, Thailand (AP) — Suspected Muslim rebels killed 10 civilians in a flurry of attacks in insurgency-plagued Southern Thailand, the army said Tuesday on the fifth anniversary of a bloody assault by security forces against militants at a mosque.

Thousands of Buddhists and foreigners in Pattaya attended the important religious ceremony of Makha Bucha Day for merit making and food offering to the Buddhist monks. This interesting ceremony caused the people to reflect on life and the natural phenomenon “Penumbral Lunar Eclipse” which occurred in the same night.
