BANGKOK - Thailand’s simmering political disturbances remain a key risk factor pressing the country’s economic recovery, according to a top financier.

An Industrial Electric User’s Seminar 2009 was recently held at the Ambassador City Hotel Jomtien chaired by Regional Electricity Assistant Director, Pongsakorn Tantivanichanon.

The Thai Cabinet on July 14 approved a budget of 850 million baht to be used in dealing with the current influenza A (H1N1) worldwide crisis, which has hurt the tourism economy, and at least 24 Thais have died, while more than 4,000 people across the country have contracted this strain of the flu.

H.E. Mr. Prasobsook Boondech, President of the Senate of Thailand, paid an official visit to Romania as guest of H.E. Mr. Mircea Dan Geoana, President of the Senate of Romania. During the visit, the President of the Senate of Thailand and the President of the Senate of Romania exchanged views on bilateral relations between Thailand and Romania, cooperation between the Senates of the two countries and global economic crisis.

Mr. Chamroon Wisavachaiphan, President of Pattaya’s Business and Tourism Association along with Mr. Itthiphol Kunplome, Mayor of Pattaya and other association members attended a meeting aimed at solving the current tourism crisis at Green Park Resort, Pattaya.
