Derek McCarick Receives M.B.E. Award for his Charitable Work

Derek McCarick, from England, has been living in Naklua, Pattaya, Thailand for over eight years. He was a taxi driver in London before he retired. Derek, 73, of Minister Isle of Sheppy, has raised almost 200,000 pounds for Leukemia research.

Pinktober Festival Held at Hard Rock

The event was held at the famous Hard Rock Café and was attended by guests in pink colored clothes who generously bought signature breast cancer key chains, while quenching their thirst with the Pinktober cocktail and ‘mocktails.’ For each drink sold, fifty baht was donated to the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.’ Limited edition Pinktober paraphernalia, such as t-shirts and pins, were also popular. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the sales of these items went to breast cancer awareness.

Special help for poor with cancer at leading hospital

Recently the Thai Polo Club of Pattaya joined with Dr. Kris and Khunying Finola Chatamra of Bangkok to raise money for breast cancer by hosting a well-attended, fundraising polo tournament named Pink Polo.
