In recent years there has been a growth in the number of Irish bars opening in Pattaya, and with so many ex-pats from the Emerald Isle now settled in Pattaya it is a wonder that the annual festivities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day have not reached our fair city in past years.

A group of caring Germans in Pattaya recently teamed up to donate 117 wheelchairs to the Father Ray Foundation.

Pattaya Times would like to invite kind-hearted readers to donate rice to the Father Ray Foundation under the ‘S.O.S Rice’ campaign with the purpose of providing rice to the 850 students under the care of Drew Noyes, Managing Director of P.A.P.P.A. Co., Ltd., Niels Colov, Managing Director of Pattaya People newspaper, Komsun Kijsamrej, Managing Director of S.K. Construction, Pattaya Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Rermkitjakarn, Father Pattaraphong Sriworakhun, Acting Chairman of the Father Ray Foundation and Father Dr. Phichart Jaisaeree, Vice President of the Father Ray Foundation along with other volunteers, campaign supporters and students at the ‘S.O.S Rice’ the Father Ray Foundation.

World renowned Korean tenor Kim Jun Man recently visited the Pattaya School for the Blind and gave students some valuable singing lessons. Before the lesson started Mr. Kim was blown away by the students beautiful rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’.

There are an estimated 1.9 million people with disabilities living in Thailand. According to the Royal Thai National Statistics Department 92% of these people are uneducated and unemployed. 42% come from Isaan, the northeastern region of the Kingdom. Typically those with disabilities remain housebound and totally dependent on their families.
