Following the earthquakes and tsunamis devastating portions of Japan there is a rippling effect throughout the globe as the world’s third largest economy is in serious trouble and Japan’s loss will be Thailand’s economic loss, also, but to what extent is unsure. The Pattaya Times newspaper interviewed Thailand’s and Pattaya’s leading experts to determine the extent of the rippling effect.

Now in its 4th year, Earth Hour has grown to be a global movement. Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbor Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum along with 50 million people in 128 countries have darkened their lights as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against climate change.

Improvements in the most unlikely of places: There are a number of go-go bars around Fun Town that have managed to remain open, and presumably proved viable as business entities, without ever inspiring me as a customer. This, of course, is a purely personal viewpoint, and doesn’t mean I’m right. It’s just I could never figure out how they attracted sufficient custom to stay open. I sometimes have a feeling mediocrity is rewarded, and not just in the bar scene.
