Pattaya Freelance Artists Host First Art Exhibition in Honor of His Majesty the King

Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawalee presided over the official opening ceremony of the First Art Exhibition in Honor of His Majesty the King in Pattaya where beautiful paintings from hundreds of freelance artists were displayed with the purpose of raising funds for the Friends in Need (of “Pa”) Volunteers Foundation Thai Red Cross and also for Pattaya City’s public service. The event was held from December 25, 2009 - January 10, 2010 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

Burapha University recently joined with Central Festival Pattaya Beach to host the 11th Burapha Graphic Art Exhibition that was a hit with both Thai and foreigners.

Sriracha Administration Organization joined with Burapha University and Silpakorn University to host this year’s art competition to boost tourism in Sriracha under the concept ‘Sriracha: a good place to live and play’.

Pattaya’s first ever Graffiti Contest was recently presented by Pattaya's Underwater World and the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya Office. The contest’s theme was “Aquarius and Underwater World”. The winner of the event was a two-member team: N.B.A., which received the 10,000-baht winning prize.

Still in concept, the squidolin – named because of its squid-like appearance is a self-teaching violin that connects to the TV.

“I love the sound of the violin,” explains Carlos Mendez. “Since I was a kid, I wanted to learn how to play it. But born in a poor country such as Nicaragua, my parents couldn't afford lessons.”

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A 7-foot painting that may or may not be the work of famed pop artist Keith Haring went on sale on eBay Friday night. Opening bid: 99 cents.
