The internet around the world is buzzing from reports in Thailand of two American, major pornographic movie makers getting arrested in Thailand and then freed under legal loopholes and another case of a Bangkok blogger defaming many prominent foreigners, including a British Embassy official. Under the Thailand Computer-Related Crime Act many criminal court cases in Thailand have charged internet users for attacking a person or company on the internet and damaging their reputation using photos, movies or text on blogs and websites. Now the law is being applied to makers of pornographic movies using Thai models and against bloggers. An American-managed law firm in Pattaya is now successfully defending foreigners arrested for producing computer-related sex videos while also prosecuting bloggers for defamation under the Computer Related Crime Act.

The US Embassy Consular Section, American Citizens Services will offer services in Pattyaya this December and March and June, 2011. Visits to Phuket and Korat are also planned to service Americans living or visiting in those areas.

The winners in the Eastern Seaboard region - including Pattaya - of this year’s prestigious Thailand Property Awards, held at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Hotel, on Saturday, November 6, were Pattaya’s top contenders: Horseshoe Point, which pulled off an amazing triple win, and Northpoint, which won the Best Condo Eastern Seaboard award.

A police investigation in Pattaya has discovered that a leading entertainment magazine printed and produced in Pattaya and distributed all over Thailand has been illegally copied and distributed under a different, but very similar name by Wayne Watson.

Over the years there have been a high number of accidents from poorly serviced elevators. Following two recent elevator accidents in Pattaya, the Pattaya Times investigative team discovered there is no governmental regulation of annual elevator inspections in Thailand, like in Western countries.
