Morning session at the Pattaya Redemtorist Vocation of School for People with Disabilities.

There are an estimated 1.9 million people with disabilities living in Thailand. According to the Royal Thai National Statistics Department 92% of these people are uneducated and unemployed. 42% come from Isaan, the northeastern region of the Kingdom. Typically those with disabilities remain housebound and totally dependent on their families.

The Pattaya Times is today printing excerpts from a letter written in 1996 by Father Ray Brennan, founder of the Father Ray Foundation.

Some of the Ambassadors' wives who modeled at the Pattaya International Fashion Week will be attending the Charity Concert to be held at the Korean Ambassador's house and will also participate in a fashion show as well.

The Pattaya Times is supporting an afternoon charity concert to be held in Bangkok at the Embassy of The Republic of Korea. Korean Ambassador H.E. Chung Hae-Moon and Madame Cho Jung-Sun will host the event in association with the YWCA Bangkok with support from the wives of ambassadors from other countries stationed in Bangkok. Funds raised will help the Global Theological Institute. Tickets are available in Pattaya.

Pattaya Group Takes on British Government

Over half a million British ex-pat pensioners are now being deprived of their entitlement to annual increases to their state old-age pensions due to new British government regulations with many of these living in Pattaya and throughout Thailand. Many others are receiving the increases by stating that they are still residing in Britain when they are actually living abroad, however they are committing fraud by doing this and the British government is set to crackdown on these people which could lead to people losing their pensions altogether.

Pattaya Times joins the people of Thailand to humbly wish Her Majesty Queen Sirikit a very blissful birthday on this auspicious occasion on August 12.

Students all over Thailand are set to benefits from the new government assistance.

As part of the SME Phase 1 component of a new entitlement program the government has given the green light to support private school students, in addition to public school students with their educational fees. For 15 years students will be given this financial assistance, regardless of the income of the parents or guardians.

HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha arrives to support the Pattaya event held to bring attention to the plight of women and children who are victims of violence and is welcomed by Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome.

For the first time ever a parade was held on Pattaya Beach Road to support Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha ‘Say No to Violence Against Women’ Campaign which was organized by the Department of Peoples’ Rights Protection and Legal Aid Pattaya Office together with Pattaya City. The day was filled with students who came dressed up in Thai costumes holding up signs to promote the campaign. There were also other locals and tourists who came to join in on the event.

A branch office of the Transnational Crime Data Center (TNCDC) will open on August 5 at the Chonburi Immigration Bureau headquarters on Jomtien Soi 5 will be overseen by Chonburi Immigration Police Superintendent Colonel Athiwit Kamolrat.

The daughter of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol (Princess Pa), is now living and working in Pattaya to assure the rights of women and children are fully protected.

Smoking Banned in Thailand

The Ministry of Public Health recently announced that smoking is prohibited at all schools, banks, religious areas, and hospitals. If a person is found smoking in the prohibited area they will immediately be subject to a 2,000 baht fine.

U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport Upgrade Underway Direct Flights from India, Germany and China Planned

U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport has recently been given 600 million baht from the government to expand the passenger terminal while other improvements will be completed in October.

Ms. Thongsai Ernst showed her booking confirmation at the airport but was denied a ticket to fly to Germany.

Ten Thais and foreigners who were victims of the Lee Tours ticketing agency scam were recently given 2,000 baht in compensation from the Mayor and are expected to receive full refunds shortly.
