Informed sources from several police divisions have told the Pattaya Times that a very serious crackdown will begin next month to catch foreign business people who are financial backers of gay bars, beer bars and a go-gos where there is sex for sale in Pattaya.

Media look on as the police stimulate a gold shop robbery similar to the one seen last May 4 in Jomtien.

Following last years brazen robbery on a Jomtien gold shop by three armed men who were quickly apprehended. Pattaya Police recently held a gold shop robbery drill to prepare themselves for future gold robbery crimes.

Mr. Sarkadi Peter Andras was arrested in Pattaya for embezzling money in Hungary.

Chonburi Immigration office arrested Mr. Sarkadi Peter Andras, 55 years old who was charged with embezzling money in his country and moved to hide in Thailand.

Chief District Attorney Wanttana Swatthong assures a local teacher, Graham Mitchell, his office will make sure there is not corruption or undue influence in the case against Lance Shaw whom investors in many countries say cheated them out of over US$2 million.

On October 19, newly appointed District Chief Prosecutor Mr. Wattana Swatthong met with one of the key witnesses and an alleged victim in the international case developing against Lance Frederick Shaw to assure people in Pattaya and everywhere justice will be served without corruption and this case is no exception regardless of any claims anyone may have made saying Mr. Shaw has protection from prosecution because of police connections.

More than 100 of Pattaya Police and Police Volunteers escorted two of the five men who staged a daring daylight robbery with assault rifles and black clothing with face masks in paramilitary style on a Jomtien gold shop on May 4 to reenact their crime.

Investigation into the on-going case against Lance Shaw - while he was based in Pattaya and operating the Hiperfinance gold scheme - has shown that all of the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau officers acted properly in all regards and, in fact, were responsible for the initial capture of the fugitive Lance Shaw.

Foreigner on foreigner crimes are on the rise in Thailand and now the world media is focusing on Thailand after an attack on a British couple by a group of foreigners and another case of a gold scam by an Australian man who disappeared with large amounts of other foreigners money.

Ivory products are available for sale in many markets across Thailand.

Legal loopholes and insufficient law enforcement mean that Thailand continues to harbour the largest illegal ivory market in Asia, says a report from the wildlife trade monitoring network TRAFFIC.
