Construction of 11km Bridge Across Mekong

Construction of the new Chiang Khong bridge across the Mekong River, as part of the North–South Economic Corridor project linking Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and China, is expected to start in March, according to Veera Ruangsooksriwong, director–general of Thailand’s Highways Department.

Prmine Miniter Abihist Vejjajiva predicts Thailand Economy will grow 3.5 percent in 2010.

Pledging that Thailand's government will not allow political problems prevailing in the country to obstruct national development, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Thursday that his administration will speed up medium and long term development projects.

Thailand's Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasit Piromya has urged Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to show concern for better long term relations between the two kingdoms by not getting involved with convicted Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

December 26, 2009 was declared as the National Disaster Prevention Day in rememberence of when the Boxing Day tsunami hit the South of Thailand.
