Fireworks will be launched from floating platforms in Pattaya Bay for safety reasons as each firework has a blast radius of 1 km.

The International Fireworks Festival will be held on the bay close to popular shopping mall, Central Festival from 30 November to 1 December, 2012. Now in its fourth year, the event will for the first time be hosted jointly by Pattaya City and the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) with the support of the Ministry of Defense (MoD). In previous years it was an MoD project, but Pattaya City has decided to add the event to its annual festival calendar.

An official announcement of activities and festivities will be released next week, but so far there are four countries (United States, Canada, China and Singapore) that confirmed they will join the event. Last year, eight countries (Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Philippines, the United Arab Emirates and the United States) supported the MoD event.

In 2011, the festival attracted around 100,000 people, but this year attendance could drop as hotels are already heavily booked.
