Re-elected president Mrs. Boontrik Gusonwit.

At the elections for the Thailand Hotel Associations(THA), Mrs. Boontrik Gusonwit, past president, was re-elected to serve as president for a second term.

She will also lead the preparations for the ASEAN 2015.

At the Dusit Thani Pattaya hotel, Thailand Hotel Association (THA) held its monthly meeting for March 2012, and voted to reelect its board members, since the terms for previous directors had expired.

Pattaya Mayor Itthipol Kunplume; Mr. Antapon Wanagit, Director, Tourism Authority Thailand (TAT) Pattaya office, and association members participated in the election for Board members for 2012-2013.

Mayor Kunplume presided as the honorary president of elections. The election positions were for two board officials, as well as the president.  Mrs. Buntrik had served the last term, 2010-2011, making prominent improvements, such as the "Road Show Tourism" project, which was highly promoted in Thailand, and numerous overseas countries.  Under her leadership, significant improvements were also made in community and environmental clean-up programs.  The elections were held in accordance with the THA charter regulations.

THA currently has 70 members, but only half were present for the required election, as per its constitution.  The candidates for president were Mrs. Buntrik Gusonwit, who ran unopposed for this election.  The two other elected officials were Mr. Sunpet Supabuanster, Assistant Manager of Atchalee Wiwat Hotels Group, who won the seat of First Vice President, and Mr. Chuchawan Supachayanon, Manager, Dusit Thani Hotel, who won the seat of Second Vice President.

Mrs. Buntrik stated that her policy will stress the following :

1) Promote and improve the market for domestic and foreign tourism;

2) increase hotel staff members, since presently there is a shortage of hotel staff in Pattaya, causing stress for current employees;

3) Improve hotel standards, featuring 21 professional standards by which hotels should abide;

 4) Beautify and clean up of the environment, promote the campaign of reducing global warming; work with the government, city officials and the Tourism Authority Thailand(TAT) to prepare for ASEAN 20150.
