Card Players Arrested

Pattaya police raided an apartment in Soi Khopai on November 10 and arrested 16 men and six women who were playing cards. The gamblers were mostly flood evacuees from Bangkok, who decided to pass the time with some enjoyable but illegal activity.   A deck of cards and an unknown amount of cash was seized by the police.

Duangdao Klomsinchai, 42, and card dealer Prathuang Pumchang, 36, were two of those arrested.  Ms Duangdao rented the apartment after moving from Bangkok due to the flooding.  She said that lack of activities and boredom led them to start playing cards.
