Veterans of Foreign Wars Wives Club (VFWWC) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) donated food and supplies to flood refugees at Sattahip Naval Base on16 November.

There were 10 volunteers who donated food and served lunch to approximately 200 flood refugees who were staying at the base, with the sailors at the base arranging and preparing the event with the VFWWC and VFW.

“It was great to see that the refugees were in good spirits, despite the tragic situation that they are in,” said Pat Clark, Junior Vice Commander of VFW.

At the camp, the mood of the refugees was upbeat and happy.  Many were enjoying hobbies together such as making art decorations, hair braiding, and playing board games, while the children were laughing and playing.

Mrs Kanjana Clark, VFWWC member, also enjoyed this event.  “We are all one big family here and we need to help each other when our family is in trouble,” she said.

After lunch the refugees thanked the volunteers for their generous time and effort.  The event concluded with a lot of picture taking among the new friends.
