Second from left; Mr. Theera Salukphet, Deputy Secretary of the Prachathippathai Party, Mr. Plodprasob Surudsawadee, Deputy Leader of Phua Thai party and Dr. Chow Maneewong, Leader of the Phalungchon Party as they explain their party's plans to improve the Eastern region if elected.
Three major political parties, Phua Thai, Prachathippathai (Democrat) and the Palungchon Party have recently outlined how they are going to develop the Eastern region.
Mr. Plodprasob Surudsawadee, Deputy Leader of
Phua Thai Party said, "We have established four policies that we will use
to develop the Eastern Region. Firstly everyone must be happy and have money,
secondly the Eastern Region must sustain its great tourism image and continue
to grow as a tourism destination. Thirdly the Eastern region will be an
industrial area that cares for the environment and conservation, and finally we
want to eliminate drug use. In addition to these four key factors, we will also
develop transportation to meet ever increasing needs. We want the airport link
from Suvannabhumi Airport to come to Pattaya within one year, we want to reduce
traffic congestion by encouraging public transport, domestically and international
promote tourism, organize city planning and fix the beach erosion
problems."
Mr. Theera
Salukphet, Deputy Secretary of the Prachathippathai Party said, "We
believe that what the East needs most is a better water management system. We
should have continuous clean water supply and water shortage problems should
never occur. Factories, homes and businesses need water. We will also develop
Laem Chabang Port to be more global. We will also encourage sustainable tourism
management in conjunction with a structured environment."
Phalungchon Party, Leader
Dr. Chow Maneewong said, "Our first priority is to improve the quality of
our leaders, build our economy and develop the country as a whole. We want
Chonburi to rank second as the province that generates the most income both
from the tourism and industrial sectors to Bangkok.. To do this we will improve
the way things are managed. In the past the government has solved problems by
only looking at the surface. Phalungchon Party will be the party that lays the
foundation of disciplined management. As for the agriculture, which is
considered as the cornerstone of the country, we will encourage farmers to grow
better crops which can be exported overseas. Agro-industry leads to revenue for
farmers. Furthermore, we will globally develop and expand tourism to a wider
range of markets."
