US Ambassador Kenney and Pattaya Times publisher American Drew Noyes are shown the Jelly Belly candy factory in Rayong by the Managing Director
US Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Christie A. Kenney and Drew Noyes publisher of the Pattaya Times newspaper, along with a small group of select reporters and embassy staff toured several new US Factories in Rayong Province in the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand after visiting the USS Tortuga in Sattahip at the Royal Thai Naval base during the CARAT Thailand 2011.
The US Ambassador to Thailand H. E. Christie A. Kenney and a small entourage from the US Embassy and local media including Pattaya businessman American Drew Noyes tour the expanding factory in Rayong of American candy giant Jelly Belly, made famous by President Ronald Regan for their delicious jelly beans. In 2006, Jelly Belly was struggling to produce enough jelly beans to satisfy U.S. demands.
After careful
consideration, Jelly Belly chose to build its 50,000 square foot plant in the
free-trade zone in the Rayong Province. The Thailand facility supplies
customers in 55 countries outside the United States. The facility has helped
Jelly Belly to better serve Europe and reach emerging growth markets in China,
India, the Middle East and ASEAN. Now they are expanding the factory after only two years to meet growing demand for Jelly Belly candy.
