A VILLAGE soccer team has gained fame after being branded the worst in Britain following the loss of 11 games in a row in which it conceded 227 goals.

But despite the horror run, including a 55-0 drubbing when only seven players took the field, none of whom was a goalkeeper, Madron FC still have a strong spirit.

Alan Davenport, the team's stand-in manager, admitted it is "probably the worst team in Britain," but praised his players for turning up.

But he said that the team would battle on.

"Teams drop out of leagues all the time, but we've not missed a game this season and we will carry on. This is a very difficult time but why walk out?" he said.

Madron FC is based near Penzance in England's southwest, has made headlines across the UK despite only scoring two goals this season.

The club was promoted from division two of the Cornish Mining League last season, but several players have since left.

Amazingly, it is not bottom of the league, because Storm FC lost points for not turning up to one of its matches.
