Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome recently announced the the underground power lines to Koh Larn project’s completion along with thrilled city officials and happy locals. From now on there will be electricity available in Koh Larn all day and all through the night.
This 300-million-baht project was one the mayor’s 14 improvement policies to make Pattaya a better place to live in and to travel to.
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol said, “We want to make Koh Larn an ideal island in Pattaya. Koh Larn was having power supply problems making life difficult for locals and tourists . With the completion of the underground power lines, Koh Larn will no longer have this issue and locals can provide services to the best of their ability to give tourists a good time. It is hoped that with this achievement just in time for the high season, Koh Larn will become a popular getaway for Thai weekenders and foreigners.”
Mr. Somsak Phittayaphongpak, Manager of the Provincial Electricity Authority said, “Before Koh Larn received electricity via a spinning method which didn't produce enough electricity and it often got cut off. After numerous complaints Pattaya City and the Provincial Electricity Authority decided to take action. The underground power line project is the perfect solution.”
“The power station is located in front of Pattaya Park Hotel and the underground tunnel is about 8.6 kilometers long. The power station can supply eight megawatts which is more than enough to provide electricity to every home and office on the island,” Mr. Somsak said.
At the moment there are about 500 houses and 6,000 locals and tourists living in Koh Larn. With a full power supply and other improvements soon to be implemented, Koh Larn will soon become an ideal island destination in Pattaya.
