Bird Flu Scare of 2004
In 2004 during the Avian Flu outbreak in Asia the international press reported Thailand had numerous outbreaks of the chicken flu and inbound international tourist canceled their vacations to Thailand by the tens of thousands. The governor of Chonburi, Governor Piset, called on Drew Noyes then Managing Director of P.A.P.P.A. (Pattaya Advertising, Promotion & Publishing Alliance) Co., Ltd. for help. They organized a media event and invited all the major international press who came to watch Drew Noyes and 57 foreigners from 14 different countries attend a banquet with the governor, other Provincial governors and Thai government officials from all over Thailand. The meal consisted of six different chicken dishes. Everyone had second helpings of the delicious Thai cuisine. Drew Noyes was interviewed as the then leader of the Pattaya City Expats Club and told the world that “Bird Flu” comes from mishandling dead chickens and unless you plan to go upcountry and kill chickens and handle them then you have nothing to worry about and you should come to the Land of Smiles: Thailand. The video aired worldwide and international tourism numbers increased dramatically thanks to the fair-handed international press and the efforts of Governor Piset, Drew Noyes and all of those in attendance.
Water Shortage Scare of 2005
When the Chinese government halted tourism to Thailand in 2005 due to a Hong Kong TV exposé report on dirty water in two hotels in Pattaya Drew Noyes was summoned by government officials to “put out this fire.” Within 17 hours Drew Noyes and his crew from PAPPA Co., Ltd. shot and edited a wide screen, DVD and had it on a Thai government airplane to the Hong Kong TV station. The five minute video showed interviews with Chinese guests staying at the hotels in question and clean water flowing from hotel bathroom sinks. The Chinese hotel guests in Pattaya contradicted the negative report and said that the water shortage was a five-hour fluke and water was plentiful and clean in the hotels now. The Chinese government immediately lifted the travel ban to Thailand.

Historical Accomplishments of the Family of Drew Noyes for the Last 1,000 Years
Drew Walter Noyes is of the Noyes Family dating back to the Battle of Hastings in 1066 in England where afterward they colonized in Wiltshire and Hampshire in Southern England. King William I of England gave the "Noyes" name, Noyes Family Coat-of-Arms, Noyes Family Crest and a great deal of land in Wiltshire, England to the Noyes men for their distinguished assistance, remarkable courage and valiant leadership in the decisive Battle of Hastings in conquering England. Referenced in http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.c/qx/noyes-coat-arms.htm
Starting in the 1600's, Noyes descendants from England began settlements in America in Coos County, New Hampshire near the Canadian border, in Boston and Essex, Massachusetts, as well as in New York, New York.
Noyes Family Tree
The "Noyes" family name, derived from the French lineage of "Noyce", "Noy" and "Noyse," was awarded by Royal Decree of Duke William of Normandy (also known as William ‘the Conqueror’ (1028-87) and William I of England). The King gave the "Noyes" name, Noyes Family Coat-of-Arms and Noyes Family Crest in order to establish the new Noyes Family in England. The new King bestowed a great deal of land in Wiltshire, England to the Noyes men for their distinguished assistance, remarkable courage and valiant leadership at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D.
The Battle of Hastings was the decisive Norman victory in the Norman Conquest of England. The battle took place on 14 October 1066, between the Norman army of Duke William of Normandy from France, and the English army led by King Harold II. Harold was killed during the battle; traditionally, it is believed he was shot through the eye with an arrow. Although there was further English resistance for some time to come, this battle is seen as the point at which William gained control of England.
As history repeats itself, 800 years later highly-decorated, US Naval Commander Captain Irving Chester Noyes, father of Drew Walter Noyes, was awarded numerous medals by the US Navy, the governments of France and England for courageous and exemplary command on D-Day while commanding the LST 494's initial and subsequent assaults on "bloody" Omaha Beach during the invasion of Normandy, France.
The Normandy Invasion was the decisive battle of World War II. When Normandy was secured, the Western European campaign led to the downfall of Nazi Germany. Commander Noyes and his crew - along with millions of Allied Forces (many of whom gave their lives in the many campaigns) - helped stop the German occupation of France leading to the fall of Nazi Germany and the downfall of Adolf Hitler. Commander Noyes was praised by his crew and their families. Amazingly, not a single man was lost from his crew during the five landings of troops, tanks and armaments during the Normandy Invasion, D-Day landings on 6 June 1944. No other ship landed as many times as most of the initial landings had crew fatalities as high as 95%. The D-Day naval forces deployed from bases along the south coast of England not so far from Wiltshire, England where the Noyes family roots began in 1066.
Noyes Family Motto: NUNCIA PACIS OLIVA
Translates to: "The Messenger of Peace"
Noyes Family Coat of Arms: Blue with three silver crosses crosslet in bend.
Noyes Family Crest: A white dove of peace with an olive branch in its mouth
Relatives of Drew Noyes
Drew Noyes is the son of childhood star Ellen Kirpatrick Johnston who appeared in legendary, US short films "The Little Rascals" and "Our Gang" comedies during the Great Depression - which have survived in syndication as cult icons like Star Trek - and she later authored the internationally-acclaimed novel, Jacob's Ladder, under the name of Kathryn Johnston Noyes. The novel was a best-seller in Poland: Kathryn Johnston Noyes, Drabina Jakubowa, przekład, H. Krzeczkowski, wyd. PIW, Warszawa 1969.
Drew’s father was Harvard alum and “90-day Wonder,” Naval Commander Irving C. Noyes who served in all five theaters of war in World War II and was highly decorated as the Commodore of the D-Day Landing of the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. Lt. Commander Noyes did not lose a single crew member in five landings of troops, tanks and armament during the incredibly dangerous assault from the entrenched German soldiers. Captain Irving Noyes served as captain of the USS Indiana and the Lt. Commander of the LST 494. Later Irving Noyes devoted his life to educating the underprivileged through non-profit tutorial centers. He established, managed and taught at Educational Skills Center, Inc. providing instruction to inner-city youth, rural school children, students preparing for college entrance exams, gifted children and Adult Education programs.
Drew Noyes was very close with his uncle New York, Park Avenue architect Walter Frederick Noyes, Jr. and was with him at his passing. Drew Noyes' grandfathers were Dr. Walter Frederick Noyes, the house physician of the Balsam's Resort in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire and Joseph Johnston, aviator and airplane manufacturer during World War I, and a former associate of billionaire Howard Hughes. Drew is the great-grandson of Civil War General Joseph E. Johnston, whom would have lead the Confederate Army had Robert E. Lee not decided at the last moment to take on the command. Prior to the US Civil War General Johnston was a close friend of General Lee and General Grant as they were educated in military command together.
Drew Noyes is a descendant of Alfred Noyes1880–1958, famous poet most well-known for "The Highwayman." Drew Noyes is also related to John Humphrey Noyes, founder of the Oneida Community, and is very distantly related to famous British stage and screen actor John Barrymore and American actress Drew Barrymore, whose first name they share because it is a family name as well. The Drew family has married many Noyes and Barrymore namesakes.
Drew Noyes is the brother of Gregory Noyes, Michael Noyes, Christopher "Kit" Noyes, Susanna (Noyes) Cooper and Jacqueline (Noyes) McAbry.
Drew Noyes is the father of Blake Drew Noyes, Carrie Noyes, Kathryn Noyes, Walter Frederick Noyes, III, Michelle Noyes, James Irving Noyes, Kit Noyes and Drew Walter Noyes, Jr.
On another branch of the Noyes Family tree is this account:
One of William the Conqueror's commanders was William Des Noyers who settled in the county of Norfolk where he had large possessions. This information is contained in William the Conqueror's "Domesday Book" which was compiled around 1086...but in Thierry's History of the Norman Conquest Des Noyers was stated to have been one of the Barons of the Conqueror.
Rev. William Noyes is the father of our heroes. Now, while the time from 1086 to the time of Rev. William Noyes does not y~eld any regular genealogy, there is scarcely room for doubt that the family came down for 500 years in a narrow region of Norfolk.
The French reading of the name means "William of the Walnut Trees".
Some of the lands referred to as holdings of William Des Noyers who was given the name Noyes by Royal Proclamation were formerly the property of Bishop Stigand, who had taking a prominent part at the coronation of William the Conqueror, but was later deposed from his office and dispossessed of his lands, which (were then allotted to Normans...and, we assume, to our William "of the Walnut Trees".
Stigand was Archbishop of Canterbury and held much property which he was accused of having obtained illegally.
The crest of the coat of arms is a dove with an olive branch in its mouth.
"There were no Scripture names in England when William the Conqueror took possession; even in Normandy they had appeared but a generation or two before then...from the advent of William the the names of the Normans began to prevail: he brought in Bible names, saint names, and his own Teutonic names...the Noyeses have been quite partial to apostolic names in the past, as their frequency in this volume shows, as is the rule in many Christian countries..."
NOYES FAMILY COAT OF ARMS-----Azure three crosses crosslet in bend argent
NOYES FAMILY CREST----A falcon proper
NOYES FAMILY MOTTO---NUNCIA PACIS OLIVA translated into English as "The olive, the messenger of peace"
The name of NOYES is derived from the residence of its first bearers at the town of Noye or Noyers, in Normandy, and was probably taken into England at the time of the Norman Conquest under William the Conqueror, in 1066, in the form of de Noye. It is found on ancient English and early American records in the variants of Noyers, Noiers, Noies, Noers, Noese, Noice, Noye, Noy, Noys, Noyce, Noyse, Noise, Noyes and others, of which the last is the most generally used spelling in America today.
It is sometimes stated that the family of Noyes is descended from three brothers, who followed William the Conqueror in the conquest of England and settled in the Counties of Wilts, Hants, and Cornwall. At later dates the family, which belonged, for the most part, to the landed gentry and yeomanry of Great Britain, and also to be found in the Counties of Sussex and Southampton.
One historian asserts, however, that William des Noyers, the progenitor of the family in England, and accompanied William the Norman and settled in Norfolk County, whence the family spread to County Suffolk and other parts of England. There is evidently some confusion here in the location of the Norman ancestors of the Noyes family, for most records agree that the direct line of descent was to the Reverend William Noyes, yeoman, of Wiltshire, England in the early sixteenth century.
The coat of arms of the ancient and honorable English family of Noyes is most generally described as follow (Burke, General Armory, 1884):
Arms----"Azure, three crosses crosslet, in bend
argent."
Crest----"Ona chapeau gules, turned up ermine, a
white dove, holding in the beak an olive branch

O. Rev. William Noyes, Rector of Choulderton
Under James I all forms of worship which did not conform to those of the established Anglican church were strictly prohibited. "Non-conformists" were persecuted. Many fled to Ho1land and America. James' son Charles continued this policy.
Passengers on the "Mary and John" (1633-4) sailing for N. England were among the vessels detained in the river Thames by order of the King's Privy Council. All the passengers were obliged to take the oath of allegiance before the ship was allowed to sail.
Listed as having taken this oath and being on the ship were Nicholas Noyes and James Noyes. No record has been found of the place and date of the landing of James and Nicholas, but it was probably on the bank of the Mystic River.
The original church of which William and Nathan Noyes (father and brother of James and Nicholas Noyes) were rectors is supposed to have been constructed by the Saxons and therefore to have antedated the Normans. The following is copied from the Church records:
"The Church of St. Nicholas, Chelderton, Witshire, England, was given to the Monks of St. Neats about 1175 and the grant was confirmed by Pope Alexander III."
On the altar the central candle bears this inscription: "To the Glory of God and the memory of Rev. William Noyes, Rector of Cholderton, 1602-1616. This gift is made by his descendants, Easter, 1894."
The communion plate and chalice used each Sunday in the church bear the following inscription: "From descendants of Rev. William Noyes, Oxford, 1592. James Atkins Noyes, A.B., Harvard 1883, and Penelope Barker Noyes."
At the left as one enters the church is an old tabel, presumably once (...)d as a Communion tabled. Its carvings show Norman arches and presumably (...)es from Norman times. Standing there also is an ancient stone baptism (...)t. It is not used now. There is the following sketch concerning it: (...)is ancient Font, after standing in the Churchyard for 73 years, marking (...) position of the west door of the Old Norman Church, was moved to its (...)sent site in February 1924. The cost of the removal was borne by (...)ldren and grandchildren of Mrs. Mary Rapall Noyes Gardner of Newburyport, (...)sachsetts, U.S.A., who was a direct descendant of the Rev. William (...)es, Rector of the Parish, 1601-1621."
While there are very old grave markers in the Churchyard there are none (...)wn to bear the name Noyes. On many stones the names are so effaced as (...) be no longer legible. The records of the church state that Nathan Noyes, (...)ther of James and Nicholas, and successor of his father, William, as (...)tor state that he was buried at Salisbury.
These records state that the (...)lowing is the inscription on his tombstone: "Here lyeth interred the (...)y of Mr. Nathan Noyes, a godly, painful and constant preacher of God's (...)d at West Choldrington (sic) in this County for the space of 32 years, who (...)arted this Life the 6th day of September, an. Do. 1651, his age was (...)re 54 years."
The tablet in the church showing a list of rectors who have served it (...)res the following:
1601. Reverend William Noyes - Patron Giles Hutchins
1603. Reverend William Noyes - Patron George Kingswill
1621. Reverend Nathan Noyes - Patron Lord Edward Zouch
Notes for DIANA LEA NOYES:
Noyes History
The Surname of NOYES was a locational name "of Noyers" a spot in France. The name was brought into England in the wake of the Norman Invasion of 1066. Most of the place-names that yield surnames are usually of small communities, villages, hamlets, some so insignificant that they are now lost to the map.
A place-name, it is reasonable to suppose, was a useful surname only when a man moved from his place of origin to elsewhere, and his new neighbors bestowed it, or he himself adopted it. The name was the vernacular form of the Hebrew male given name Noah, which is said to mean "Long-lived". According to the book of Genesis, Noah, having been forewarned by God, built an ark into which he took his family and representatives of every species of animal, and so was saved from the flood that God sent to destroy the world because of human wickedness.
The given name was not common among non-Jews in the Middle Ages, but the biblical story was an extremely popular subject to miracle plays. In most cases, therefore, the surname probably derives from a nickname referring to someone who had played the part of Noah in a miracle play or pageant rather than from a given name.
At first the coat of arms was a practical matter which served a function on the battlefield and in tournaments. With his helmet covering his face, and armour encasing the knight from head to foot, the only means of identification for his followers, was the insignia painted on his shield and embroidered on his surcoat, the draped and flowing garment worn over the armour.
Early records of the name mention Rogert de Nuiers, 1199, County Norfolk. Alexander de Nowers was recorded in the year 1230 in County Warwickshire. William Simon Noysse was documented in 1327 in County Suffolk.
A notable member of the name was Alfred Noyes (1880-1958) the English poet, born in Staffordshire. He began writing verse as an undergraduate at Oxford, and on the strength of getting a volume published in his final year; he left without taking a degree. This book "The Loom of Years" (1902) was followed by others which attracted notice. He published literary essays, and also wrote plays and studies of William Morris and Voltaire.
The Reverend William Noyes, of Wiltshire, was the father by his wife Agnes of four sons, Robert, John, Richard, and William, as well as of five daughters.
Robert, eldest son of William, married Joan Attridge, who gave him at least two sons, Robert and William, of whom the first was the father of William, Robert and Richard. One William Noyes, who is believed to have been the eldest son of Robert, mentioned above, was married in Wiltshire in 1595 to Anne Parker, by whom he had issue of Ephraim, Nathan, James, Nicholas, and John, of whom the sons James and Nicholas immigrated to America in 1634 and will be mentioned again later.
Another branch of the family was represented at Oxford, England, about the beginning of the sixteenth century by Richard Noyes, who left issue by his wife Agnes of a son named John, who resided in Berkshire and left an only son named John, who resided in Berkshire and left an only daughter and heir, named Agnes. This Agnes married Peter Noyes, son of another Peter Noyes, who resided in Hampshire and is said to have been a cousin of the first William Noyes of Wiltshire. Peter and Agnes were the parents of John (died in infancy), Peter, Michael, William, Richard, Samuel, and several daughters, of these, Peter made his home in County Sussex and married Eleanor, daughter of Adrian Kirby, before 1622. His children were Anne, Eleanor, Peter and John.
One Sir William Noy or Noye was living in County Cornwall, England, before 1560 and was the father there by his wife, Phillip Lenyne, of Edward, John and William of whom the last married Sara York and was the father by her of Humphrey, Philip, Joseph, Barbara, and Anne.
While it is not definitely known, in every case, from which of the numerous branches of the family in England the first emigrants of the name to America were descended, it is generally thought that most, if not all, of the Noyes families in this country derive from a common European ancestor of a remote period.
The Reverend James Noyes, elder of the two immigrant brothers from Wiltshire, brought with him his young bride, Sarah Brown, whom he married in 1633, as well as his younger brother, Nicholas. He made his home at Newbury Massachusetts in 1634 and was one of the first two ministers of that town. His children were Joseph, James, Sarah (died young), Moses, John, Thomas, Rebecca, William, and Sarah.
Joseph, eldest son of the immigrant James, resided in Sudbury, Mass. and was the father by his first wife, Mary Darvell whom he married in 1662, of Joseph, James, Mary Moses, Sarah, Rebecca, John, and Thomas. In 1680 he married the Widow Mary (nee Dunster) Willaard, by whom he had no children.
James, the second son of the immigrant James, married Dorothy Stanton in 1674 and had issue by her of Dorothy, James, Thomas, Anna, John, Joseph, and Moses.
Moses, third son of the immigrant James, was the first minister of Lyme, Conn., and left issue in that colony by his wife, Ruth Pickett, whom he married in 1676, of Moses, John, Ruth, Sarah, and Naomi.
John, fourth son of the immigrant James, married Sarah Oliver in 1671 and was the father at Boston, Mass., by her of Sarah, John, Oliver, and possibly of others.
Thomas, fifth son of the immigrant James, was married in 1669 to Martha Pierce, by whom he was the father of Sarah, Martha, and Daniel. By his second wife, Elizabeth Greenleaf, whom he married in 1677, he had further issue of Thomas, Parker, Elizabeth, Joseph, Moses, Stephen, Rebecca, Judith, and Mary.
William, sixth and youngest son of the immigrant James, married Sarah Cogswell in 1685 and had issue by her of John, William, Moses, Susannah, Mary Parker, Sarah and two others, who died at early ages.
Nicholas Noyes, younger brother of the immigrant James was married at Newbury, Mass., about 1640 to Mary Cutting, by whom he had issue of thirteen children, Mary, Hannah, John, Nicholas (died unmarried), Cutting, Sarah (did in infancy), another Sarah, Timothy, James, Abigail, Rachel, Thomas and Rebecca.
John, eldest son of the immigrant Nicholas, married Mary Poore in 1668 and was the father by her of Nicholas, Daniel, Mary, John, Martha (died young), Martha, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Moses, and Samuel.
Cutting, son of the immigrant Nicholas, was the father by his wife, Elizabeth Knight, whom he married in 1674, of John, Cutting, Elizabeth, Bathsheba, Mary and others. In 1702 he married a second wife, Elizabeth Tappan, by whom, however, he had no progeny.
Timothy, son of the immigrant Nicholas, married Mary Knight in 1681 and had issue by her of James, Abigail, Mary, Sarah, Timothy, Rachel, John, Martha, Isaac, and Nicholas.
James, son of the immigrant Nicholas, was the father by his wife, Hannah Knight, whom he married in 1684, of Rebecca, Joseph, Hanna, Nicholas, Nathan, Ephraim, Lydia, Benjamin, Mary, James and at least one other, who died young.
Thomas, youngest son of the immigrant Nicholas, was the father by his wife Sarah (surname unknown) of at least four children, Sarah, Rebecca, Bethia, and Thomas.
Another early immigrant of the Noyes family was Peter Noyes, of Sudbury, Mass., who emigrated from Southamptonshire, England, in 1638. Probably he was of the before-mentioned Hampshire line, where the Christian name of Peter frequently occurred in Noyes records. He brought with him from England his children, Thomas, Elizabeth, Nicholas (no further record), Dorothy, Abigail, Peter, and Joseph.
Of the sons of the immigrant Peter, Thomas married Mary Haynes, but left no children; Peter married Elizabeth Darvell in 1654 and was the father by her of Elizabeth, Mary, Dorothy, Sarah, Esther, and Peter; and Joseph married Mary Norton and removed to the Barbados, where he died without issue.
Others of the name who came to this country at early dates but left few records of themselves or their immediate families were Joseph Noyes, of Salisbury, Mass., in 1640 who married Mary French in 1651; and Richard Noyes, of Newbury, Mass., in 1647.
Later representatives of this and other lines of the family in America have removed to nearly every part of the United States and have contributed as much to the growth and expansion of the nation as their progenitors did to its founding. Known, on the whole, as an adventurous, quick witted, fun-loving race, the Noyeses have, in many cases, displayed a far above average intellectual ability and a capacity for leadership. These characteristics, combined with their natural strength of body and will, have brought them to the fore in many fields, including science, law, and literature.
Among those of the name who fought as officers in the War of the Revolution were Lieutenants John, Joseph, and Wadleigh Noyes of Massachusetts; Lieutenant Thomas Noyes, of rhode Island; surgeon John Noyes, of Connecticut; Captain Samuel Noyes, of Massachusetts; and Colonel Joseph Noyes of Rhode Island.
James, John, Joseph, Nicholas, William, Thomas, Peter, Timothy, Cutting, Robert, Richard, Samuel, and Moses are some of the Christian Names preferred by the family for its male progeny.
A few of the many member of the family who have distinguished themselves in America in more recent times are:
Walter Frederick Noyes, Jr. (1914- 2001) of Manhattan, New York-- architect
Irving Chester Noyes (1916 – 2005) of Colebrook, NH – WWII Naval Commander and decorated hero; later an educator of the underprivileged
