Learn to Speak English in Three Months

An accomplished linguist, Khun Karun is well versed in five languages including English, Thai and French. Having spent a large amount of his life in international environments, including a two-year exploration stint in France, he returned home to pursue a career in finance. It was during this time - after hundreds of hours of pro bono English tutoring for his colleagues and friends - that he discovered, despite the boom in professional language institutions, there was still a need for quality language tutors.

“Many of my friends were already enrolled in semester programs at reputed language schools around Thailand but they still asked me to help them with much of their work.” stated Khun Karun, “This depicted a serious flaw in the institutes’ educations system, and consequently confirmed my suspicions that language skills are best acquired through a one-on-one approach”

Khun Karun continued, “Some of my friends were paying through their nose for their courses. They accumulated heavy debts and some even sought finance options in the form of mortgages. Seeing their demise, I decided to help coach a small group of students on an individual basis. I structured my own tests to assess their language skills aphand interests, and then tailored my lessons to suit those outcomes. My lessons were informal, and took place in local coffee houses namely Starbucks and True Coffee. Their tranquil atmosphere, coupled with the right appraisal, helped students absorb the language at a much faster pace.”

“Word quickly spread and between my time at the office, at school (I enrolled in another specialized finance degree), and evening hours spent coaching individuals – I could not keep up with the demand. Education was of utmost importance to me and I had just been offered a scholarship at Asian University in Pattaya, my hometown, so I had to forfeit my job and pro bono lessons.”

“Unbeknownst to me, that move was perhaps the first cornerstone of Phasa English - Innovative Learning. I found that many of my university friends required help with their English as well. In addition, there were many students from local international schools who were seeking help with their board exams, be it the SATs, IGCSEs, A Levels, International Baccalaureate diploma, TOEFLs, and IELTs. Based on a friend’s recommendation, I advertised in a local newspaper’s free ad section and gained a small group of keen individuals. I refined my teaching skills, assessment criteria, and lessons to suit each individual and discovered that a) Thai people (especially those who were brought up in bigger cities) had a great ear for languages, and b) could on average converse effortlessly in English within three months. That was the start of my ‘Speak Fluent English in Three months campaign’.”
