Swedish national Kamran Amini, 37, was successfully arrested as a result of the new Transnational Crime Data Center (TNCDC) in Pattaya.

Mr. Amini was accused of illegally trading medical products through the internet which was estimated to have been worth over 37 million baht over the last three years (2007-2009).

An arrest warrant was served against Mr. Amini by the Swedish Court in Soderton district on May 14, 2010. The arrest warrant stated that Mr. Amini would have to serve about six years in prison.

On July 1, 2010 the Swedish authorities issued a letter to all immigration offices around the world to help track down Mr. Amini.

Mr. Amini first entered Thailand on November 13, 2009 and requested an extension at the Chonburi Immigration Bureau and was permitted to stay in the country on a language student visa.

His passport had been canceled on June 18, 2010.

With the use of the new ‘IM’ system recently installed at the TNCDC the police discovered that there was an arrest warrant against him.

The ‘IM’ system is used for data collection, visa extension procedures, 24-hour accommodation reporting and arrest warrants.

Mr. Amini was soon after arrested by the Chonburi Immigration Police and his visa was invalidated. He is being detained and is awaiting deportation back to Sweden.
