The Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya Office recently announced their updated tourism development plans and next year’s tourism marketing plan which is to promote international tourism online under the campaign ‘Just as Amazing as You Remember’.To promote domestic tourism, TAT is planning on using the campaign ‘Hold Thailand out of Tirelessness’. These two campaigns will be implemented until the end of September and TAT officers will be studying all feedback closely . Once they have received people’s reactions to the campaign, the campaign will be adjusted accordingly to be used as a new development plan and tourism marketing plan for 2011.

Mr. Prakit Peerakeit, Deputy Director of Marketing Communications, Tourism Authority of Thailand said, “Instead of spending a lot of money on international promotions, we are planning to host many international sporting events instead. Focusing on international sporting events attracts a great market group of tourists who follow their favourite sports with passion. Some of the sporting events we have in mind are Formula One racing, major golf tournaments and the Thailand tennis open. In addition, we will also use low cost advertisement through the internet and mobile phones. We are going to increase the online promotion budget from 20% to 30% of our budget.”

Mr. Sunsern Nyaorungsri, TAT’s Deputy Director of the Asia Pacific and Oceania Market said, “TAT is aiming at maintaining the percentage of the Asian and Oceania tourists at 63-64% as well as concentrating on promoting shopping in Thailand. Shopping appeals to many and is an activity that helps boost the local economy. For the high end market, we will focus on the golf marketing and do our best to make Thailand the ‘Golfing Hub of Asia’. We are going to host a golf summit in October which will be attended by 800-900 people. We are also going to organize a golf expo in which 3000-4000 people are expected to attend. Not only that, we will also host golf managerial meetings all over Thailand around April next year. In additional to golf, we will also concentrate on promoting other kinds of tourism such as medical tourism and green tourism.”
