Pattaya Chosen to Attract Larger Business Groups
The Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) is a great venue for attracting larger business groups.
The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has recently introduced its latest initiatives to develop Pattaya into a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) oriented city which will push Thailand’s MICE industry forward as well.
The plans are aimed at improving Thailand’s economy by using creative ideas to host events and exhibitions that differ from others. Pattaya was chosen as the first city in Thailand to promote the importance of MICE industry to the public and business owners.
Mr. Akapol Sorasuchart, President of the TCEB said, “The Creative MICE Event project was created with the purpose of letting business owners and the public become more aware about the MICE industry and how it can help improve our economy. We want to teach the business owners and the public about how to host an event or exhibitions in a creative way by using the unique feature Pattaya's location as a selling point. This will not only help attract more visitors but it will also help the country as a whole in terms of tourism and reputation.”
“We chose Pattaya as the first location for this project because Pattaya has all of the features that match with our goals. We want to encourage people to host meetings or events that are different in terms of introducing new and interesting activities to tourists and locals. Pattaya is colorful and lively while at the same time it is a perfect holiday destination. If we want to attract more people to come to Pattaya we need to focus on showing what Pattaya has to offer which are the numerous activities available here and its famous night life,” added Mr. Akapol.
“Pattaya is a city that has prided itself on the quality of its hospitality and service and the friendliness of its people for decades. We need to highlight in Pattaya’s three key attributes - value for money, variety of choices and Thai-style hospitality,” explained Mr. Akapol.
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome said, “Every year Pattaya attracts about five million tourist in which 10% are from the MICE industry with people coming here for events, meetings, and exhibitions. People from the MICE industry usually spend triple the amount of what regular tourists spend which is why we need to attract them. I am honored that Pattaya was chosen as the first destination because I do feel that Pattaya is the perfect place. We have a lot of tourist destinations, places to hold meetings, exhibitions of all sizes, and our infrastructure is best suited to become the next MICE city.”
