Foie Gras Mania at The Beach Club
Head down to the Pullman Aisawan hotel on Wong Amat beach and every night of the week something special is happening at this cool, contemporary destination. Mick and I were invited recently to their Thursday night promotion to enjoy “Foie Gras Mania” and were impressed not only with the unique restaurant but the total venue that shrieks state of the art architecture and avant-garde interiors.
The reception is chic and trendy with cascading water features and interesting modern sculptures. We were hospitably directed down to the Beach Club and found ourselves at sea level looking out onto two beachfront swimming pools. Both are equipped with mood lighting, chill-out music and they lead down to a palm fringed illuminated beach.
The Beach Club restaurant is an all-day dining outlet decorated in cool bleached pine with remarkable features. It flows from the progressive open display kitchen alongside the curves of the pool, winding its way until it reaches the private beach where guests can enjoy a snack in the afternoon sun or take in a beachside sunset with a cool cocktail or a glass of Champagne from their unique selection.
We settled ourselves at a pool-side table and were swiftly served our first course from the foie gras menu. I have to admit I am a great devotee of this offal and enjoy the unique flavour whenever I get the opportunity. Chef Bird’s fois gras terrine (B.650) was innovative and tasty. The delicate liver paste having been mixed with walnuts and the pan fried duck juices resulting in a moist but delicate flavour. Next, we were served a duck consommé infused with lemon grass with the added pleasure of duck liver ravioli. Wagyu beef is always a luxe product and here it had been pan fried and wrapped around noodles and nuggets of foie gras (B.999). A treat for two foie gras lovers would be the sharing platter (600 grms) of premier product roasted in a cocotte adhering to a traditional Perigord recipe.
For other events, the promotions feature on Mondays a Brazilian Brochette feast for B.999 including a bottle of wine (B.799 without). Tuesday night is their astounding Kort Night (KORT coming from “Knights of the Round Table”) when a gastronomic 4-course set menu is served with free flow of beer or red and white wine for B.555 net. Starters include items such as tomato and mozzarella with a balsamic reduction, marinated salmon with dill sauce, assorted pork rillettes or a snow pea soup. Main courses then offer veal with macaroni gratin, red garoupa en papillote or cote de boeuf (rib steak) for two persons) with vegetables and a dessert. So don’t miss out – KORT offers astounding value-for-money and an opportunity to enjoy gourmet food in stunning surroundings.
For buffet enthusiasts there is a trio a week to enjoy. Wednesday night is Thai seafood buffet, Friday the Beach Club BBQ buffet and on Saturdays nights the Seafood Lover’s all-you-can-eat banquet. All are priced at B.999 with a bottle of wine (B.799 without). Every first Saturday in the month is their White Party when one item of attire has to be white (different theme each month). This is extreme party night and it spills over on to the beach where everyone indulges and famous Pattaya DJ’s entertain. Entry is free and standard drinks are B.100.
This new wave hotel brings cosmopolitan refinement to Pattaya with its cool contemporary concept and it’s innovative restaurant where out of the box ideas are a constant and their prices kept lower with their “net” pricing. There is always something original happening at this chic beachside eatery so check out their website to discover daily promotions at value for money prices and one of the most contemporary elegant venues in Pattaya.
