Can You Find the No Name Restaurant?
I've always believed that the best kept secrets should remain so. If you want to find this little gem you will need some initiative and an iPhone or Android with GPS because that is all I'm going to give you. 12 52' 38.81"N, 100 55' 14.23"E.
Even with these exact coordinates and with your car parked on the pot holed car park, you won't immediately be able to see the restaurant because its well hidden in the bushes and trees on the other side of the road. Find a small gap and you will enter a jungle hideout with tables scattered between the trees and bushes and a few "sala" type tables for up to eight guests along one side. You'll also notice that you will probably be the only foreigner there which almost tells you all you need to know.
Aside from the setting there is not much to immediately recommend this place. The menu is sparse and only in Thai and no one copy is the same as the next. The servers don't speak much English either so you really do need to go with someone who speaks Thai. Enough to make most foreigners lose their cool and stomp out.
Order any of the salads or seafood dishes but the deep fried fish is the speciality. Be prepared to wait for ages if they are full, which is most of the time. But once the food arrives you will be bowled over. It's authentic with no frills and simply delicious. Four people with plenty to eat, including a couple of large bottles of Singha and the signature fish will run you about 1,200 baht.
If you like the experience and can get their phone number, they are happy to take your order over the phone and have your food ready when you arrive but first time out you'll have to just wait and soak up the remote and friendly atmosphere made right by so many happy and contented people enjoying each others company and the incredible food on offer.
Enjoy the search because the find is well worth the effort.
