Stop Human Trafficking Seminar Held
Mrs. Yanee Lertklai, Deputy Director for the Department of Social Development and Welfare as she addresses about human trafficking prevention in front of representative from all over Thailand.
The second ‘Stop Human Trafficking’ Seminar in Pattaya was recently held in which attendees were educated about understanding human trafficking and how it can be prevented.
The seminar was conducted by Mrs. Yanee Lertklai, Deputy Director for the Department of Social Development and Welfare and was attended by a large number of people from business owners, government officers, students and the general public.
Mrs. Yanee said, “The problems of human trafficking is very complex and it is a problem that is close to us. People can easily be lured into it if they have little knowledge about how these people operate. There are many reasons why people can be lured into this industry such as poverty, lack of opportunities in society, problems at home and hanging with the wrong crowd. Sometimes people are involved in human trafficking without even realizing until it is too late. For these reasons, we decided to set up a seminar to educate locals to make sure that they understand the risks and consequences of human trafficking.”
“Apart from educating locals we are also teaming up with people from overseas who will give us resources and information so that we can prevent international human trafficking as well,” added Mrs. Yanee.
