New British Counselor Selected
Well-known Pattaya Tourist Police Assistant Leader Howard Miller is the new Honorary British Counselor for Pattaya and the region.
The British Embassy in Bangkok has selected Howard Miller to replace retiring Honorary British Counselor for Pattaya and the region Barry Kenyan to oversee the British Honorary Consulate Pattaya located on Jomtien Soi 5.
Mr. Miller is highly-visible and regularly worked to help tourists and residents at the Tourist Police information van positioned on Walking Street while overseeing other foreign assistants patrolling the area to reduce crime against tourists.
Howard Miller, well-known in Pattaya for his years of work as Group Leader for Tourist Police Assistants and as the Presenter and Managing Director for Pattaya One cable TV programs and Pattaya 105 FM radio, was selected by the British Embassy in Bangkok from several other worthy applicants.
It is believed that Mr. Miller’s close ties with Thai police and government officials, his management skills and experience in helping foreigners in Pattaya solve problems made him uniquely qualified for the prestigious position as Honorary Councilor.
Honorary British Counselor for Pattaya Miller is 37-years-old, hails from Southend, Essex, England, has lived in Pattaya since 2002 and is married to a Thai lady.
Honorary British Counselor Kenyon, who was the region’s first Honorary Counselor to establish a dedicated Consulate building in Pattaya, will retire from active councilor services duty, but will continue to help all foreigners at the nearby Chonburi Immigration Bureau office. Mr. Kenyon is helping Mr. Miller learn the policies and procedures of the Honorary British Consulate Pattaya to assure a smooth transition as head of the office so British citizens’ services continue to run smoothly.
Mr. Kenyan worked hard, is well-liked and has been very efficient in offering quality assistance to British citizens in Thailand. Many citizens’ services formerly available only in Bangkok at the Embassy are now available in Pattaya in their office on Jomtien Soi 5 near the immigration office thanks to Mr. Kenyan’s efforts.
