Pattaya Marathon is Just Around the Corner
One of the most popular marathons in Thailand is back again with this year’s ‘Power Plus Pattaya Marathon’ being held on July 18 from 4:00 am - 12:00 pm. The event will kick off in front of the Pattaya City Hall and we encourage all to be a part of this anticipated event. The marathon can be enjoyed by everyone as it has four categories of varying distances.
The marathon attracts runners from all over the world and has been a huge success year after year. This year without a doubt will receive yet again the same feedback. The event is divided into various categories;the full marathon (42.195 km) for those aged 18 years and older, a half marathon (21.1 km) for those aged 16 years and older, a quarter marathon (10.55 km) for those 15 years and older,a wheelchair marathon (10.55 km) and student marathon (5 km). All categories begin at the Pattaya City Hall.
Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome said, “The Pattaya Marathon is held every year with the aim of promoting Pattaya’s tourism as well as encouraging people to exercise. Every year we have had runners of all nationalities. This year we have already have applicants from Kenya, Japan and many more. This year we have been sponsored by Power Plus an energy drink, GMM Grammy and Central Festival Pattaya Beach so I guarantee a lively day ahead.”
“The course we use this year is going to be different from last year as we will use more city routes. We also have a GPS system on the runners’ shoes to make the event in line with international standards,” added Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol.
There are also great prizes to be won with nearly 2.4 million baht in prize money alone. Everyone who reaches the finish line will also receive a medal and a certificate.
