The Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya recently held an ‘Installation Night’ for their new President, Richard Paul Haughton at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.

Richard introduced his Management Board for the Rotary year 2010/2011 and talked about his goals in humanitarian help for the community. He also expressed pleasure that some members had brought their children to the dinner, as children are our future and should be included in what we do. There were many interested people in attendance eager to hear the new plans.

The celebrations highlighted the hard work the club carried out in its Humanitarian fields, and included the following projects: Installing Water Treatment systems in 12 Rural Schools last year; Banglamung Old People’s home was assisted with repairs to the roof and new ramps for the wheel chair access; Glen Croston Children’s Home near Chang Mai received funding for new buildings and supporting 25 children on a monthly basis. The Street Kids home in Burriram received joint assistance in short term fostering and support for elderly people and the R.O.S.E project (An educational exchange for orphans) got support towards sponsoring 5 young children to visit and live in Australia for one year.

All this needs money to accomplish. Personal donations also funded the annual Cross Bay Swim in November, with donations from many overseas Rotary Clubs and other co-sponsorship Rotary Clubs in Pattaya. More recently a monthly scheme of contributions to our COGS funds so essential to our continued giving in the coming year.
