Becoming a Monk

Siripun Sinbuathong 03.06.2010 12:37
Mr. Wattayu Preechadech, son of Chief Officer Montri Preechadech and Ms. Thanyawaylai Kraputta, recently became a monk to thank his parents by following the Buddhist tradition. The event was held at the Samakhee Temple in Sattahip in which now ‘Monk’ Wattayu was surrounded by friends and family who traveled from Phayup and Suphanburi. It is a belief that Thai men become monks, usually at the age of 20, to thank their mothers and so that mothers can hold on to the monk's robe when they die and go to heaven.
