The Royal Cliff Wine Club recently celebrated their 9th anniversary with a very special wine tasting session for members.
The sold out event presented a very special and highly educational blind tasting in the spirit of this highly acclaimed wine club with members enjoying the opportunity to taste a total of 12 Sauvignon Blancs originating from a range of countries, as well as making the most of the challenge of identifying the wines country of origin following an introduction and educational instruction from a surprise guest speaker.
Mr. Ron Batori, President of Bangkok Beer & Beverages (BB&B) gave the talk, enlightening the group and highlighting the intricacies and techniques involved. A very seasoned and respected wine expert, Mr. Batori’s visit was significant in that he was the first ever guest speaker for the Royal Cliff Wine Club on its first ever event on April 28, 2001 when he was then the Managing Director of Ambrose Wines.
The passionate wine lovers in attendance were able to sample from a range of oaked and unoaked Sauvignon Blancs, from relatively simple wines to very precious and absolutely "heroic".
From its inception in 2001, the Royal Cliff Wine Club now comprises of hundreds of keen members. Over the years it has hosted an impressive range of events to promote and bring together similarly enthusiastic people with a mutual love for fine wines.
The Royal Cliff Beach Resort boasts an impressive selection of wines, with more than 36,000 carefully selected bottles in its inventory, including over 1,000 of the world’s best new- and old-world wine labels and 15 varieties of the resort’s own label selection. This has seen the resort receive many international accolades including five "Best of Awards of Excellence 2009" from New York's Wine Spectator magazine, making it the first hotel resort in the world to achieve this feat. Many wine enthusiasts, winemakers and wine writers around the world have acknowledged this remarkable achievement.
