The biggest country music singing competition in the Eastern Seaboard was recently held at Central Festival Pattaya Beach. Ms. Arreerut Sooksai or ‘Nong Mill’ from Chantaburi stole the crowd’s heart and scored the winning title. She will record a special song written especially for Pattaya called ‘Pattaya My Love’ before moving on to pursue her singing career.

The 6th Country Music Singing Competition began auditions for talented singers of ages 13-25 years old in March. The purpose of this competition was not only to search for a new country music star but encourage the younger generation to appreciate Thai country music.

Auditions were held until there were only five finalists. They were Ms. Wijittra Kasatum from Patumthani, Mr. Rerngrit Yimkluathong from Chonburi, Mr. Narongrit Kidhen also from Patumthani, Ms. Malintorn Marasri from Bangkok and the winner Ms. Arreerut Sooksai from Chantaburi.

During the final round each contestant had to sing one fast and one slow song. The winner was Ms. Arreerut who won 15,000 baht prize money. The first runner-up was Ms. Malintorn who won 10,000 baht. Ms. Malintorn also won ‘The Crowd’s Favorite’ Award. The second runner-up was Ms. Wijittra who won 7,000 baht and also won the ‘Most Shining Star’ award. Mr. Rerngrit and Mr. Narongrit won the consolation prize money of 5,000 baht each. All of the prizes came with trophies and the chance of becoming real country music singing sensations.
