With a brand new government Pattaya's British contingent will be watching closely to see if the New Prime Minister will address issues such as the week pound and unfair pension arrangements which have blighted the lives of Pattaya residents.

When a coalition government was announced last week between David Cameron and Nick Clegg most expat Brits were already cheering the end of a parliament that saw many expats disenfranchised, the pound plummet and serious unfair practices in pensions brought to the fore.

Business owner Andy West said he was delighted to see the end of Labour but worried that the coalition meant that the Tories couldn't go far enough.

Local Tory organizer, Thor Halland ,declared that it was 'the end of an era of doom and despair and the flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.'

Reg Simmonds told us that he had always voted Labour but ,lately, they had gone too far and would never vote for them again 'They made a real pig's ear of the economy' he told The Times 'And I'm hurting. this was supposed to be a pleasant retirement and now I'm really feeling the pinch'.

Generally people were delighted that such an unpopular ,unelected leader was finally given his marching orders.

Some had had enough though. A generously proportioned 'no shirt' Brit we found in a run down bar in soi Yamoto ,who gave his name only as 'Mark' ,slurred that he had had enough and couldn't afford to stay. He was afraid that he might 'never have sex again' as no woman back at home would put up with his ample girth and tiny appendage,we made our excuses and left.
