Royal Cliff Beach Resort to Hold ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ Blind Wine Tasting

Members of the Royal Cliff Wine Club will have a very unique chance to taste wines originating from a wide range of countries and twelve varieties as well as enjoy the challenging opportunity to identify their country of origin following an introduction and educational instruction from a surprise guest speaker.

The highly respected and professional wine expert will be attending this interesting event which promises to be a highly informative, cultural and enriching experience for both wine lovers and wine connoisseurs.

Both oaked and unoaked Sauvignon Blancs will be featured from relatively simple wines to very precious and absolutely heroic. This is a very fascinating subject since prior to the 1970's the only quality Sauvignon Blancs were coming from the Loire Valley in France. The new world had yet to develop a style for the grape and the other areas of France were producing very poor quality, sulphured and coarse wines.

With the global interest sparked by the arrival of "Fume Blancs" in California in the 1970's and of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in the 80's this varietal is popular and offers a myriad of styles that reflect both winemaking philosophy and unique growing conditions in each country.
