ANZAC Day is being commemorated on April 25 where a Dawn Service, a Gunfire Breakfast at Hellfire Pass, a Memorial Service and a Wreath Laying Ceremony will be conducted at the Kanchanaburi Allied War Cemetery in which everyone is welcome to attend.

The Dawn Service will start at 5:30 am and go for approximately 40 minutes. It is being conducted at Konyu Cutting located below the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, in Kanchanaburi. The trip from Kanchanaburi town to Hellfire Pass is approximately 80 kilometers and takes about 45 minutes by road. The journey from Pattaya to Kanchanaburi is approximately 350 kilometers and takes about two and a half hours by car. Attendees must find their own transportation and accommodation. There are recommended places at www.thailand.embassy.gov.au or contact local travel agencies as some offer an ANZAC Day Tour.

On completion of the Dawn Service in Konyu Cutting attendees will enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee with traditional ANZAC biscuits and Bundaberg Rum which will be available at the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum.

The Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am at the Kanchanaburi Allied War Cemetery as will go for approximately an hour. Drinking water is available for attendees and light refreshments are provided after the service as well.

Services being conducted at both locations follow the same format as those conducted in Australia so an event like this shouldn’t be missed by those Australian or New Zealanders living in Thailand.
