PSC Golf from Tropical Bert's
March 30
Stableford Competition
Bangpakong Golf Course
This Tuesday we had a large group of golfers, but several were playing their last round before heading back to their home countries, like migrating geese. Omens like this have a positive implication for those who stay, since they presage the fall in green fees as we enter the "slow" season. What is bad for bar girls is good for golfers. This day we had a couple of ladies to augment our withering numbers of withered golfers. We headed way out along the toll road to Bangpakong, which enjoys well watered fairways even during the dry season. The day was fine and the air was mostly still.
This day was exciting, since it would decide who would be winner of the prestigious "Alain Bolton Golfer of the Month" shoe bag. There was no clear leader and the prize was entirely up for grabs. As the results started to come in, our captain remarked how there was a clear demarcation in results between the various flights, as the lower handicappers were carrying the day. In the end, Doug Maiko took the best score and won the Alain Bolton bag. When asked why he had so excelled this day, he boomed: "Obama Care!".
