Tony & Ken Battle it out at Bangpra
Tuesday 30/3 saw us return to Bangpra for this Low Season, following a long absence, necessitated by the 11.00 am start times imposed in the High Season. The course was not crowded, so we were able to get off right on time, and so it was that our all buggy riding 4some led us off, setting a good pace for the rest to follow. The course was in good condition, especially the fairways, which were well grassed with no bare patches. The greens, of which some had been lightly sanded were good, although not as firey as times past, possibly a blessing for some. Despite the good course conditions, good scores were thin on the ground, with Tony Chetland (17) just edging Ken Hole (16) on a countback 17 to 16 on the back 9, after both signing for 33 points. The near pins were spread around between Jeff, Jim & Lucky, who made her 1st visit to the paymaster after a nice shot on the 2nd, hopefully more to come.
April Fool's Day saw no pranks amongst the group, although the Greenwood B & C course was throwing up some tricks to the golfers involved. Again good course conditions, although very hot, which sapped the energy of all players, with no-one breaking their handicap, for the 2nd game in a row. Best of the day was Yves Philibert (26) with 35 points, hotly pursued by Les Easton (14) with 34, (a big improvement over Tuesday). In 3rd & 4th, separated only by countback 17 to 16, was Martin Hayes (13) beating Jeff Wylie (5), both with 32 points. The near pins on the day went to Martin, Les & Jeff, while the C3 hole proved too tough a challenge, resulting in a donation to the Banglamung Boys Home.
Next week is Songkran so Mulligans LAKESIDE is playing on Monday at Royal Lakeside, to avoid the increased tariffs at the local courses, while still offering a game to those keen regulars amongst us.
Mulligans LAKESIDE plays golf generally on Tuesday & Thursday (we sometimes change to accommodate a Thai Holiday), presentations are made at the course on Tuesday, with Mulligans LAKESIDE hosting the Thursday presentation.
