A British Bank Does It Again

Les Edmonds Pattaya Times News 22.03.2010 10:19

Over the years, the Banks in the UK have repeatedly screwed their customers in one way or another. Despite making record profts, their main aim was to get more out of you for offering less in services.

The one area they were stopped was the ridiculous Bank Charges on all accounts, unless you had a small fortune with them and could say “I'll go somewhere else” and then they tended to back pedal.

Unfortunately, the average customer does not fall into this category and dealing with banks where the bottom line is PROFIT you will not be able to win.

Therefore the only way is to muster support amongst the fellow customers for when one Bank starts to get mean, most of the others follow suit.

The latest Bank to get nasty is Nationwide: for they have informed us, without any form of consultation, that they are now introducing Cash Card +, a new and improved version of your existing Cash Card.

What does it offer?  I quote from their leafet.

Use your new cash card+ instead of withdrawing cash to pay for things in shops. You can use your cash card at shops in the UK and overseas BUT  please note that your new card cannot be used to withdraw cash overseas.

So, where does it leave people like my wife and I who have accounts with Nationwide in the UK, into which are paid our Pensions and any other monies? Up a gum tree, to say the least, for we will have a Bank account that we cannot draw money out of unless we are in the UK.

YES, I know I will be able to pay in some shops, but can you imagine us going to our local market and offering them our Cash card+ to pay for goods...we'll get a blank look to say the least.

On their leafet it says if you have any further questions go to nationwide.co.uk/cardchanges2, call us or visit your branch.

Obviously we cannot do the last and if we have to call them we use the SAY NO TO 0870 site to avoid the ridiculous telephone charges.

Go to the Nationwide site above and you do not get Nationwide, but a site on which complaints have already been posted with regard to this stupid action regarding the cash card.

One person even states that when he went into his branch, the girl said “it costs us to much” (here's that bottom line PROFIT again, forget the words Customer Service),and when he said “I'll change my Bank” she just shrugged her shoulders.

DOES THIS BANK DESERVE TO HAVE LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I THINK NOT
