Immigration Offcers Reinforce Foreign Registration Laws
Chonburi Immigration led by Pol. Col. Athiwit Kamolrat, Commander of the entire Chonburi Immigration Bureau is reminding hotel owners in Pattaya to report to Immigration details of their foreign guests with the aim to reduce human traffcking activities, illegal immigrant workers and other foreigner crimes.
Commander of Immigration Police Lt. General Wut Liptapanlop recently notifed all Immigration offces, especially those in Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai of the immediate reinforcement of the Immigration Act as of March 1st. This Immigration Act states that those who run apartments, guesthouses, condominiums, or hotels which have foreigners as guests are required to notify the Immigration Offce within 24 hours, and every consecutive 90-day period afterwards. Those owners who fail to comply with this rule will be fned from 800 -8,000 baht at the rate of 200 baht per day.
Pol. Lt. Col Phromphai Jakkaphas, The Deputy Police Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration personally visited a few apartments, guesthouses, condominiums, and hotels in the Pattaya and Sriracha area. During his visit he found 10 places that were not complying with the new law. Most of these were guesthouses with a frst foor as a bar and the top foors as guesthouses.
