Golf from the “Travellers Rest”

40’s to Win

I am amazed nothing out of order to report.

Just a great weeks golf with great people on some great courses.

However 40’s seemed to be the order required for a win.

Three division prizes were taken with forty plus during the week.

The frst of them was on Monday at Plutaluang. In fact there were two on the day.

One came from Stuart James.

He must have been gutted when he found out that Tony Amayo with his forty had beaten him on count-back over the back nine by two.

The next was on Thursday at Phoenix. Mike McPhee with a fortytwo to win division one.

The last came from Paul Quilavin at Khao Kheo on Saturday with forty-one to win division two.

Well down to detailed reporting of this weeks play.

First outing was to “Plutaluang” on the 8th March.

A good entry but just one full division and places from ffth.

Fifth went to Howard Taylor after loosing the count back to Larry Simpson both with thirty-four. Third went to Ian Dallas with his thirtyfve. A count back battle over two forties for second and frst was next with honours going to Tony Amayo over Stuart James.

Only a single two on the day from Carl Eisenkriev Tuesday the ninth was a trip to Emerald

As is normal at the moment great numbers and two very full divisions.

Second Division was a win for Phil Battah with thirty-seven. Second was Jimmy Merritt with thirtyfve. Third Roger Wilkinson with thirty two after a count back decision over John Merritt.

The First Division was a win for Tristan Gilbert with thirty-four going one better than his previous Tuesday outing. Bill McGarvie was second also with thirty-four but loosing on count back. Third place went to Alan Thomas at thirty-three after beating both Mike McPhee and Brendan Moore on count back.

Just the two two’s Mike McPhee and Gerry Swan.

Thursday the eleventh and our usual Thursday outing to Phoenix this time  Ocean and Mountain. A very big entry and two divisions.

Division Two was a win for Phil Battah at thirty-eight and just two back was Jimmy Merritt with thirty-six for second. Third was Roger Wilkinson at thirty-fve.

Division One was a forty-two point win for Mike McPhee and four back was Neil Bramley for second at thirty-eight. Thirty-seven was enough to take third spot for Mod Chaviraksa.

Some great scores on a course that was playing long. 

Three Twos. Mike McPhee at the seventh. Tewin Lamthong at the thirteenth and Roger Ison at the seventeenth.

Saturday the thirteenth and off we went to our alternative weekend venue of Khao Kheow.

Entry numbers good and two divisions. 0 to 12 and 13 up. Pay outs to forth place in both.

Division Two had Paul Quinlavin at the top of the list with a great fortyone pointer. Second was Brad Dippie at thirty-nine. It was fve more back to third and Wayne Harman with thirty -four. Forth was Pierre Riggieri and his thirty-three.

Division One and Tewin Lamthong was top dog (or shouldthat be bitch) with thirty-eight and a full three back at thirty-fve for second was Neil Bramley. Michael Prideaux took third spot with her thirty-four after winning the count back over Tristan Gilbert pushing him to ffth. Only the one two and all the plunder went to Gerry Swan.
