Sifu McInnes Still Working in Pattaya Contrary to Rumors of Deportation
In a response to a communication to the
Pattaya Times newspaper editors at 5:20 pm Tuesday from the responsible owner
of Thaivisa.com in which he asked the Pattaya Times editors, “… if they [Thai
Immigration] quietly deported him [Sifu] as unconfirmed rumors say?” at 5:40 pm
Tuesday the Pattaya Times editors found Sifu working his normal routine by
finishing his day at his office and then instructing at his martial arts and
SWAT training school across the street from his office.
Safe to say Sifu McInnes has not been
deported. His vehicles have not been confiscated. We looked in the back
of his building and saw all five SWAT vehicles marked with police insignias and
the “SWAT” emblem.
The fleet included the yellow Hummer
depicted in photos that showed that vehicle as the one Sifu was driving
containing a locked, metal army training box with the weapons which had been
taken out of and displayed on a table in the internet photos.
We saw the active training rooms and an
outdoor facility where tactical assault training on replicas of actual
buildings designated for police SWAT attack are constructed to minimize
collateral damage and insure the safety of SWAT members.
More significantly, we saw five Pattaya
Police officers in SWAT uniforms at the training center and spoke with two of
them who were shocked and confused about the charges against Sifu McInnes.
There were numerous newspaper articles spanning three years reporting the successes of the Pattaya-based SWAT team led and coordinated by Sifu McInnes framed and displayed on the lobby wall.
Sifu McInnes produced numerous official documentation from the military and police written in Thai on official letterhead confirming his legal right to transport weapons and SWAT gear and instruct SWAT members.
“There are 15 of us on the SWAT
team. Fourteen members of the SWAT are Pattaya Policemen I trained. I am
the only foreigner. The reports that I was “parading around Pattaya with other
foreigners with automatic weapons in full SWAT gear" are ridiculous. We
put our lives on the line every night we go out. We were ordered to
patrol during the peak hours of crime from 10 pm to 4 am on Friday’s and
Saturday’s in addition to our regular patrols, ”Sifu explained.
“We patrol the areas where Thai gangs
use to to congregate. We use high tech devices as solutions. For example,
when we recently answered a call of a convenience store robbery that had just
occurred we went to the store, downloaded the CCTV video within two minutes,
viewed the footage in the car while in pursuit and caught the robbers within an
hour,” Sifu McInnes added.
“Since we began the late night patrols
five months ago there has not been a single shooting death in Pattaya,” Sifu
proudly stated.
“I’ve thought about retiring. It
is just not worth serving as SWAT coordinator on duty
and then, due to a misunderstanding about my credentials, going through this,”
he sadly commented.
