Chonburi Irrigation Bureau Guarantees a Drought Free Year
The Irrigation Bureau of Thailand Chonburi Offce recently announced that they are confdent about this year’s water supply in Pattaya. They have joined with East Water Company to pump over 20 million cubic meters of water into the Bang Phra reservoir to be able to supply water all year round to locals as well as tourists.
Mr. Boonsom Yuthitumphinyo, Representative of the Chonburi Irrigation Bureau revealed during the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association meeting that, “Many of the business owners in Pattaya have been concerned about water supply ever since the El Nino crisis which effected the water supply in Pattaya.

One of the reservoirs in Sriracha that can hold up to 120 million cubic meters of water currently used as the main reservoir that supplies water to reservoirs in Pattaya such as the Maprachan reservoir.
The Department of Pathology said that the El Nino crisis that occurred in the Pacifc ocean causes the water temperature to rise of about 1-2 degrees. This resulted in heavy rain in the American continent and drought in Asia. Because of this the Chonburi Irrigation Bureau decided to team up with East Water Company to establish preparations for a possible drought.”
“We are going to pump 20 million cubic meters of water from Bangprakong River to the Bang Phra reservoir. Water in the Bang Phra reservoir together with our nearby reservoirs like the Maprachan reservoir will surely be enough to satisfy the water demand in Pattaya,” added Mr. Boonsom.

Mr. boonsom yuthitumphinyo, representative of the Chonburi Irrigation bureau as he announced the good news to the public concerning a drought-free year.
Mr. Boonsom further said, “The Hui Sa Parn reservoir and the Nong Klang Dong reservoir in Sriracha plus the Khun Jit reservoir and the Maprachan reservoir in Pattaya are the main reservoirs that supplies water for the people in Pattaya and Chonburi. These four reservoirs are currently holding about 57 percent of water. If we get to the point where we need more, we can always take water from the Bang Phra reservoir in Sriracha and Nong Pla Lai reservoir, and the Klong Pra Sae reservoir in Rayong. Therefore, I can guarantee that we will have enough water to support the demand of tourists and locals this year.”
President of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association Jamroon Vitsavachaipan added, “Water is crucial if we want to improve and develop tourism. If we can supply unlimited amount of clean water to tourists we will have good reputation in which will later lead to higher tourist numbers in Pattaya.”
