The mission behind Pink Polo is to raise funds to provide lifesaving access to care at the King Chulalongkorn Hospital's Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer research and treatment. The Queen’s Cup Pink Polo is the first ever women’s Polo competition ever held in Thailand.
The event held last year was such a great success and was attended by many well known celebrities and high society elites. In 2009 VIP guests included, M.L. Piyapat Birompakdi lady in waiting of HM the Queen, Mom Chailai Yukala, hunying Dhipavadee Meksawan, Pol. Maj. Gen. Not only will the day feature ladies polo action, there will also be fun-filled activities for all the family to enjoy including pony rides, a fashion show on horseback, kids polo lessons and a kids match.
Pink is the color of the day with the clubhouse at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club decked out in pink decorations and the crowd is encouraged to wear pink costume to show their support in the fight against breast cancer. Prizes will also be awarded to those with the ‘Best Dressed’ and the ‘Most Beautiful Hat’. Another prize in which everyone is anticipating for is the ‘Miss Pink Polo’ award which was won by Khun Nanthavimon Phonpanich last year.
The highlight of the day will be the fashion show parade on horseback from renowned luxury fashion houses Escada, Burberry, La Perla and La Martina. The fashion show will be led by Thai famous horserider Khun ’Pu-Khai’ Pongsiree Bunluewong and Khun ‘Mint’ Phannanya Tarnthong followed by professional models such as Khun ‘Organ’ Rasi Watcharaphonmeg, Khun ‘Ae’ Sasikarn Apichartworasin, Khun ‘Pai’ Phatit Pisitkul, Marvin Taweephon, and Khun Lalita Sasiprapha, who is also one of the ambassadors for the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer.

Khun Lalita Sasiprapha said in last year’s event, “I am much honored to be involved in this charitable event and getting the chance to model fabulous clothes on horseback. I must admit that I was quite nervous to model on a horse because I haven’t been on a horse for over 15 years. Normally, when people are told they have breast cancer, they usually get scared and afraid. Dr. Kris Chatamra the Founder and Director of Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer is able to talk to patients and make sure they understand the issues. Breast cancer can be cured if it is discovered at its early stage, so I suggest women should take care of themselves and get regular checks. A short trip to the hospital once a year can save a life.”
This years’ Queen’s Cup Pink Polo will without a doubt be a success with international Polo teams competing with mission to encourage public attention of women in need and create an awareness of the threat of breast cancer plus introduce to the new generation so that they have more interest in the game of Polo.
