PSC Golf From the Café Kronborg
Monday, January 11 Greenwood, B & C – Stableford
Once again we had a “full house” of 40 golfers, all eager to head of to the very popular Greenwood Golf Club. It was great to see the return of our friends from Holland–Cees & Cilia Bosman and Joop & Janna Jasperse. Sixty five minutes after leaving Café Kronborg we arrived at the course and our first group managed to tee off five minutes earlier than scheduled at 0955. The weather was fantastic again and the course was in typically great shape with the greens firm and true if a little “slick” for the over zealous. Yet again most of us struggled a little with our golf and indeed only two golfers played to their handicap or better. The pace was fairly brisk on our first nine but slowed down somewhat on the second nine, however we managed to complete our round in the acceptable time of four and a half hours which included a couple of lengthy drink stops. This was our only competition game for the week as there is no game on Thursday due to the PSC Club Championships being played on Tuesday and Wednesday at Khao Kheow.
The full field allowed us to have three flights–A Flight for 0 to 16, B Flight for 17 to 21 and C Flight for handicaps 22 and over. As usual nearest the pins on the four par threes and longest first putts on the last hole of each nine.
In A Flight Richard Kubicki made it back to back wins with Marcel Wittwer taking second spot on a count back from Brian Gabe. The consistent single figure handicapper Rob Brown finished in fourth place. Neil Allison Took out the B Flight on a count back from Mike Winfield. Another count back saw Hugh O’Donnell finish third ahead of Aussie Stu Rifkin. Andre Van Dyk continued his good form and finished on top in C Flight. Yet another count back for second and third places saw Laurina Brinn victorious over Mike Herridge. Frenchman J C Lhoste finished in fourth spot.
