Twos Eight
While the Mrs.is away young Pat will play. They say some things come in threes and in Pat Regan’s case thiswas certainly so. First Jum takes a holiday; Pat wins the huge Lewiinski’s snowball, followed by this months monthly Medal with a great net 69. Pat Frank Higgins seems to have completely recovered from his recent mystery accident to gain a count back decision over our Golden boy winner Ian ‘Lose change’ Halfpenny as both carded solid net 70 points. Ian will now have his name nailed to the wall in Lewiinski’s hall of fame.
Lou Zigzag did the Aussie’s proud, taking full control of the junior flight with a sound net 71. In a three way tie Mark ‘The Egret’ Bonner got the verdict for second place. El Tel Terry Par was placed third, and The Eagle still recovering from his bout of the avian flu got nowt.
The Red Flight was claimed by Mike ‘The Mechanic’ Craighead with a mouthwatering net 69. This solid performance won Mike the Red Flight Monthly Medal and the prestigious Gold Medal. Mike’s name will also go to the wall in the Lewiinski’s hall of fame.
Crystal Bay
A Flight
1st John O’Neil (17) – 37 pts
2nd Jimmy Day (14) – 35 pts
B Flight
1st Geoff Kubas (18) – 35 pts
2nd David Kelly (20) – 35 pts
Crystal Bay was host to the Lewiinski’s gang and the course was in fine condition with the greens as slick as ever. The Senior Flight was an all Irish affair, with John O’Neil the only player to break par this he did it with a solid 37 points. ‘The Co Kerry Ladies man’ Jimmy Day kept his head down to take the runner up spot carding 35 points.
Geoff ‘Elvis’ Kubas and David Kelly took the junior honor’s and they both made use of only fourteen holes Geoff’s 35 points were enough for the top spot. David‘s 33 points rounded out the flight. Jimmy Day, Takeshi Hazozaki and David Kelly shared the two’s pot
Wednesday, January 11 Mountain Shadow
A Flight
1st Tom McManus (10) – 34pts
2nd Jack Grindvold (5) – 33 pts
3rd Silvio Bizzotto (12) – 33pts
B Flight
1st Geoff Kubas (17) – 33 pts
2nd Jack Mouly (22) – 32 pts
3rd Eddie Beilby (20) – 32 pts
Mountain Shadow Sister course to Crystal Bay which we played on Monday produced greens that were far faster, hence the miserable scores. Irelands’ Tom McManus needed just 34 pts for the match honors, and senior flight victory. There were four players tied on 33 points Jack Grindvolds 20 on the back side holding up for second place. Silvio Bizzotto sneaked third. The unlucky pair to miss out was ‘The Ladies man’ Jimmy Day (Keep this up Jimmy and we will get your mug shot in the Mail) and ‘One Ball’ George
If it wasn’t the Gold Medal week then Geoff Elvis Kubas who is right on song with is two wins in two days would surely have got the headlineslot if not for his miserly 33 points. To day Jack Mouly kept his good form going posting 32 points for second. Eddie ‘The Cuckoo’ Beilby stole third place with 31 points
There were eight twos recorded. One was by our old pal Brian “Guitarist to Sir Cliff Richards” Lewis, back for a long overdue holiday.
Friday, January 15 Rayong country club
A Flight
1st Petri Raita (10) – 36 pts
2nd Justin Fowlis (13) – 36 pts
3rd Silvio Bizzotto (12) – 35 pts
B Flight
1st Rune Assheim (18) – 36 pts
2nd Peter Hedenbergh (19) – 34 pts
3rd Odd-Holm Hansen (27) – 32 pts
It was a nostalgic day for many players who have enjoyed many great days at the Sir Nick Faldo designed course Rayong country club (formerly called Great Lake). The course is still working to get in the kind of condition that many remember it to be in. But if your looking for complaints don’t bother asking Raita Petri, Justin Fowlis or Rune Assheim who all posted par rounds to win.
In A Flight Petri and Justin were only separated by a count back as they took first and second respectively, Silvio Bizzotto came up a shot short for third.
Rune Assheim was top player in B Flight. Peter Hedenbergh came in two shots back for second. Odd- Holm Hansen was a further two shots further adrift, despite an incredible five no scores.
Petri Raita and Justin Fowlis split the twos pot.
