Break Dancing in Pattaya
One of these is Hip-hop, characterized by special music, clothing and life style. For many years youngsters all over Thailand have observed the hip-hop style and have tried in small groups to copy the moves of break dancing.
For Pattaya the large numbers of young visiting foreigners brought the culture with them and enabled local youth to learn by direct teaching.
This took place mostly in the famous Pattaya ‘Walking Street.’ Tricks and techniques were learnt and a small local break dance community became a reality.
Some Pattaya dancers even developed their passion to provide their daily bread, their way of living and to finance their studies. Nowadays a group of almost 20 dancers show up in Walking Street every day around 10:00 pm and dance all night for the audience until the early hours. Every interested visitor is heartily welcomed and can join in dancing or just enjoy watching.
Beside this “professional” group there are Break Dancing sessions in almost every school. For beginners there are free Break Dancing lessons every evening at 7:00 pm at Central Center Pattaya (at the side facing Pattaya Second Road.)
In the past Pattaya has arranged Street Jam and break competitions. Now the Central Center Pattaya has been very generous and offered full support and use of their atrium for what will be the biggest break dance event ever the” Thai Polo 2010 Rock for Life”. This will take place on the 16th of January in Central Center Pattaya. Registration starts 10:00 am with the qualifying rounds. The official opening will be at 1:45 pm and the finals will start at 6:00 pm.
